Petisco promotes itself as a sandwich shop, however, it has a very nice menu beyond just sandwiches, including a fairly decent wine offering. Petisco is located about .5 mi (10 minute walk) from the Crowne Plaza Hotel and .8 mi (18 minute walk) from the Oregon Convention Center. It is a quaint little restaurant that shares a building with a few other businesses, a few outside tables and several indoor tables. The decor is reminiscent of a cafe, with chalkboards here and there displaying the various menu items. The service was friendly and prompt, I didn’t have to wait around to order or for my food.
I ordered the wild Alaskan salmon salad. The salmon was encrusted with pink peppercorns and coriander and was served over baby greens, berries, goat cheese, apples, and shallots with balsamic vinaigrette. The fish was cooked perfectly, the greens were crisp, and all the flavors worked well with each other. My only complaint is rather minor; with all the components to the salad, it was hard to taste everything together. My fork is only so big, so most of the dinner was chasing around berries, apples, or salmon to try to get a taste of the salad as one. Other than that, this was one of my more expensive meals: $13 for lunch. I think it was worth it and I would definitely go back again to try a sandwich next time.
